In the Botanical Gardens in Durham, there is a large wooden block (about six by two feet, from memory) with a pattern of numbers on it. I don't know why.

My theory is that they're phone numbers. Holds up for about a minute, until you realise that to test it, you'd have to try a few. 0191.... :)
