On my birthday, I decided to take an tour around Newcastle on an open top tourist bus - despite having lived here for more than five years, I saw parts of the city I didn't know existed.
During the tour, the Sage was described as 'the most dramatic urban sight in Europe'.
That might be an exaggeration, but it's certainly striking.
