A war memorial in Gateshead. I think it's a Naval memorial.
The hardware problems aren't sorted out yet. It looks like I need a new monitor - hope it's not the video card.

Spider
Disgust and fear are different things:
Maybe it's the twitching or the deathly stillness broken by sudden, rapid movement...
I'm not afraid of spiders - but they revolt me, they make my skin crawl.
I've had to post-date this entry to Sunday as I'm having hardware problems. During the week everything should be OK, but Sundays might be difficult until I can sort everything out.

Burger Palace
This is where the Burger King lives, presumably.
The best named mobile grease wagon I've seen is called 'The Scran Van', although there's another called 'Classic Catering' - which I think might be stretching the definition of 'classic'.
Still, if you don't want a post drinking binge burger, you could always head for some fried chicken. The unhygenic sounding Chicken Cottage is about five minutes walk from the Burger Palace.

Swan Bake
As promised, now and again the grainy Espion snaps will be making way for something taken with a Canon A200 (and so a bit clearer and sharper - at least in theory, no promises.) For the moment, I'm planning to do this on Fridays.
The title is from an article in the Sun in June last year, which claimed that 'Eastern European asylum-seekers' were bludgeoning swans and eating them.
When I took this picture there were at least three families feeding these swans, possibly to fatten them up ready for the oven, or possibly not.

Coming Soon
Gone some time ago would be a more accurate title, considering that this image was taken in 2002. The location is the inimitable Tyneside Cinema, where - instead of the usual watery Coke - you can have a cold beer while you're watching whatever obscure independent film happens to be on.

Withered
A desiccated violet. Can't modern science develop a way of ensuring that houseplants can survive a week without being watered?
In my blogroll (towards the bottom of the page on the sidepanel) there's an entry for 'Pjer L'espion Photoblog'. How Pjer has managed to get the quality of images he has from his L'espion is anyone's guess. I may email him and ask. The entry for January 21 is particularly impressive, with almost no distortion and almost completely even lighting. Most remarkable of all is that Pjer appears to have been able to frame many of the photographs. It looks like he has the same model L'espion as I do, which means what can be seen in the viewfinder bears no relation to what the lens is pointing at.

Barras Bridge
The Church of St. Thomas the Martyr in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
This blog is an offshoot of my flickr photostream (URL below).
The intention: to post a daily image taken with a L'espion, a digital camera so rudimentary it doesn't have a viewfinder.*
Occasionally (e.g. weekly, rather than daily) I'll post something less grainy, taken with a better camera.

* Technically, it does have a viewfinder (but it's useless).
