The view slightly to the left of yesterday's espion shot, through the huge gates of the scrapyard near Ouseburn.

Vulcan, 5mph
7m high bronze sculpture Vulcan by Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, Central Square, Newcastle. Must not exceed 5mph.
This is from the first roll I shot with my Holga CFN, yet another distraction from taking shots with the Espion... I'd never used medium format film before shooting this, and now I've found somewhere that can develop it at a reasonable price (and without having to send it to a lab in Alpha Centauri) I can wholeheartedly say that I love it. It's perfectly low tech, down to the lick and stick resealing of the roll.

McPhoto
Since my first, traumatic visit to a McDonalds, for someone's birthday party when I was about six, I've never understood how anyone can spend more than five minutes in one without losing the will to live. I genuinely can't think of one redeeming feature - the 'restaurants' are irredemably depressing, desolate and plastic, just like the 'food'.

Bent Cops
An anonymous opinion on the rectitude of the local constabulary, spray painted on a wall between the Metroradio arena and the river.

Pool
I used to be pretty good at pool - not exceptional, but not bad either. The last game I played was about two years ago, so it's a good bet that I'm going to be a bit rusty.

Newcastle Cathedral
The distinctive spires of Saint Nicolas' Cathedral, Newcastle. Shot with a Zenit 122, a Russian SLR, on Ilford XP2 film.

Number of the Beast
Part of a phone number crudely scrawled onto a wall. In honour of the Entrance to Hell group over at Flickr, which recently had the same number of members.

Metro Radio Arena
The arena is currently hosting Disney on Ice. As I was walking past, the PA system was listing prohibited items, which seemed slightly excessive. No cameras was one of the first things mentioned.

Stealing
Sign on a large abandoned building between the river and the Metro radio Arena in Newcastle. I've seen quite a few of these kinds of signs around in various places.

Stepney Bank Stables
On the road that eventually leads to the Cluny, in between abandoned scrapyards and industrial units.

Shut
Automatic parking signs in Newcastle city centre, not far from St James Park stadium.
After all the shooting with film I've been doing, the espion reserve is looking dangerously low - not helped by a decent crop of shots from last weekend being spoiled by the espion's strange memory garbling tendencies, where it mixes up several shots in a way that is not at all pleasant (garish is a better term.)

Weathered
A delapidated old shed on the edge of a farm, passed on a walk in Northumberland near the route of Hadrians Wall.

Rabbit
Pets Corner in Jesmond again, something a bit more friendly looking than the fearsome sheep this time though.

UFGB
A warning sign at the edge of one of the holes (it's next to a road through the town) at the golf course in Alnmouth.

Phone Boxes
The view from inside the Monument metro station, looking towards the Laing Art gallery. *edit* I'm an idiot. It's the Central Station stop, looking towards the Station Hotel. There aren't any phone boxes at the Monument stop.

Roadsweeper
A mobile roadsweeper cart on Northumberland Street in Newcastle - this thing chased me all the way down from the Haymarket to the Monument (i.e. the entire length of Newcastle's main shopping street.)
No matter which side of the street I moved to, there he was, trying to mow me down. Good job the top speed is about 2mph or I might have been worried.

The South Africa War Memorial near the Haymarket metro stop in Newcastle - currently surrounded by scaffolding for cleaning purposes.

Police Van
Near the Flickrwall on Pilgrim Street is the central police station.
Occasionally, it seems, the city's law enforcement professionals are short of things to do and like to visit the flickrwall themselves, as tigerweet found out.
